Contractor stays cool when the temperature is HOT!

I purchased the Aims 2500 watt inverter for my work van. The intent was to run a 5000 watt BTU window air conditioner. The old 95 Chevy did not come with air conditioning so I decided to add a window unit into the wall behind the front two seats. I am a contractor who works on a variety of project from decks, drywall, tile, and many other projects. A few weeks a go I went on a service call that I knew didn’t have an outside outlet, so I plugged in my Makita compound miter box and cut some replacement board for a deck that I installed over a year ago. I was in and out of the job in less than a ½ hr. On another occasion a storm had taken the power out at job sight with a two level addition. The basement level had taken on water and needed to be pumped out with a large water pump. We also plugged in the existing sub pumps and got that water level back down to normal levels before we left that job.

I had some welding cables made for me to extend my inverter to the wall behind my driver seat in my van. I only have one battery and usually have the engine running when using the inverter. That allows me to run the AC and not drain my battery at the same time.

An electrical inspector saw the AC unit and was wondering how big of an inverter it took to run the unit.

Thank you, it has been a conversation piece and made my summer a bit cooler.
