| Homemade Generator Helps Power Two Inverters!Dear Inverters R Us,
I have been using inverters for years, but not until recently have i come up with the idea of having a backup power supply. two years ago i set up my system. i laid 100 feet of 2 " pipe which carries 60 gallon a minute to my homemade generator, which is made up of a old furnace blower and a dc motor as a generator with a one way diode. this produces 24 volts at around 2 to 2.5 amps which keeps my forklift battery (600 lbs don't know the amp hours rating) charged all the time. when the power went out last winter i finally got to use my system. i have 2 800 watt inverters that i used to power my monitor heater, tv, lights, my wife's curling iron, radio and the fridge for almost a week until power was restored. i was going to expand the system until i had my accident, but for now i am content with having my backup system and my inverters to take with me camping.
