| Highway Hero saves the day with his 5000 Watt inverter!Hello my name is Jxxxxx Axxxxx, the proud owner of a 5000 watt Aims inverter. I use my inverter as an AC power source in my 1985 conversion van. At this time, I am using 2 Optima batteries to power the unit, and they are 1000 cranking amps a piece. The devices that I use with it are a small air-condition unit and a VCR combo. It powers them both with no problem and I would truly recommend this inverter to anyone who wants to get their AC power source party started right.
My inverter is basically used for pleasure, but I had to use it for work one time so far; and that came about when I was driving down Interstate 285 one night. I was riding and I saw a car pulled over in the emergency lane with the flashers blinking which was filled with people, (2 ladies and 3 kids) so I pulled over to assist them. As I approached the car, the driver told me that the car just cut off on her as she was driving. Since I had my 5000 watt inverter, I pulled out my 100 foot drop cord and light, and plugged it up in my inverter. I already had my air-conditioner running along with the VCR combo, both plugged up in the inverter playing a movie on my flip TV that runs off 12volts. Note, I did leave the van running as I looked for the problem with the car, and since I didn't have a flashlight to see with, having the inverter really came in handy. I did find the problem with the car; the distributor wire had come loose from the distributor cap which made the car cut off without notice.
After figuring out that problem, the battery was low from the lights flashing for a long period of time. Once again my inverter came in handy. I had a small battery charger that I keep with me under the bench seat at the back of the van. I was able to connect it to the drop cord and let it charge her battery. By this time, we all was sweating from the summer heat so after I cleaned the dirt off my hands from fixing the car, I invited them all to sit in my van until the battery charged up. The van was nice and cool from the air conditioner being on which my wonderful inverter was powering and the kids enjoyed the movie that was playing with my VCR combo. Thanks to you all and my powerful inverter, I was able to see the problem, fix the problem, cool off, and most of all I was able to get those ladies and three kids off of the highway and out of harms way thanks to having MY 5000WATT INVERTER!
