| Sailboat stays cool with inverter running the AC!I purchased a 26ft sailboat a few weeks ago, but my wife needs AC, so I went and bought a portable 10000 BTU air conditioner. My plan is to run a 1000 watt generator during the needed times and because the AC only draws 6 amps of electricity, I will convert to the inverter just before I go to bed. I have read several stories of people dying from carbon monoxide poisoning so I do not wish to run the generator at night while we are sleeping. The AC has a timer sp after a few tests of how long my battery will last, and I will set it for that amount of time. I believe the AC comes on twice a night for one hour or two. I picked this inverter over the others because I can monitor the actual amp draw with the compressor running or with the fan just running.
