| Motorhome user has a tire repair shop at a state park! After our first trip in our new 2005 motorhome, my co-pilot (wife) and I discussed the shortcomings of this expensive hunk of machinery we had just purchased. During these two weeks of travel and 3500 miles, we often commented how we couldn't turn the TV on or brew a little coffee as we traveled.
After the trip, I started looking on how to solve this problem. I went to many catalogs and web sites. The Inverters R Us site came up in the search engines many times. I saw the 1250 watt unit and figured out (with my limited electrical knowledge) this would suit us perfectly for what we needed to do. Sometimes those little things also convince you of the right product. In this instance, I liked the units remote switch. It was small and rather inconspicuous. Perfect for where and how I had to fish the wire and place it.
I received the product within a few days and immediately started to install it. Directions were quite simple. Within a couple hours we were up and running. I installed two receptacles in the RV and the remote switch. I've got two Trojan 125-6 volt batteries to power this unit. It works great as we're traveling or stopped on the side of the road.
What a pleasure on our trips now! When we hit the road early, my copilot starts the coffee as we travel. No stopping, no delays. We run the laptop from another outlet for our mapping program. We have used the TV for people in the back as we travel or have sat in a Wal-Mart or Flying J or remote campground, before bed, watching that TV without the generator running.
Oh how sweet! This past fall we were at a State Park on a rail trail for some biking. Wouldn't you know it we take the bikes off the rack and we have a low tire, almost flat? We took the compressor out (it was AC), plug into the inverter outlet and the tire was full within minute. Another biker came by and asked if the "air was free". Of course, I topped his tire off, and he was impressed with my remote "tire repair shop."
It's certainly my best add on customization that I've put on this motor home. It's something that every motor home should have.
