| Inverter Helps Run Vegetable Oil Engine SystemI am using my 400 watt power inverter , that I purchased from Inverters R Us, to run a 110 volt pump. I saw a program where a diesel engine was being run off of waste vegetable oil and I decided to try it myself. I contacted some local restaurants, and obtained their waste oil. I purchased a used Yanmar diesel engine and I fuel it with the waste vegetable oil. Thanks to the inverter, it works great!
Basically I bought a 110 volt pump, and hooked it up to the power inverter, enabling me to pump the waste oil from the restaurant's container to mine. When I get the oil back home I run the oil through a filter using the same pump again powered by the inverter and from there it goes straight to the diesel motor. I have to use batteries when pumping the waste oil at the restaurant, and I am able to charge these using the alternator on my diesel motor which is running on waste veggie oil. I am now curious as to how many alternators this motor could run using power inverters to supply household appliances.
Recently during a power outage, I hooked my power inverter to my lawn mower battery and we were the only house in the neighborhood that had a lamp burning and the television on. I am always finding new ways to use my inverter and have many ideas in mind that I would like to try in the future.
Much of my inverter usage is or pleasure, or just tinkering and experimenting, but I also use my inverter to run my power tools at work quite often. My inverter is extremely important whether for work, pleasure or emergency.
